Return Pipe

So on my retrn I have threaded bulkheads that I did a mpt x slip to put my pipe into then a slip x mpt elbot to put my loc line into. So my question is should it all be glued or should I just do the same thing that dursostandpipes.com says on the drain and wrap the slip fittings with teflon tape and shove them together so it can all be pulled apart? If I glue it all together the only way to get it out will be to unscrew it from the bulkhead. Here is two pics to help better illustrate what I am talking about. Thanks

Howdy,

Follow their directions and use tape. If there is a problem such as a snail getting in their you will understand why. You will gain nothing by glueing them, only headaches if you need to take it apart again.

I am using tape on the drains I am talking about my return pipes. He does not talk about them. I just did not know if the pressure from the pump flow would cause any problems if I just used Teflon tape and shoved it together

Tape the drain. Glue the return.

Better to be safe than sorry.

i do not glue slip fittings that are on the wet side of the bulkhead ever

I never glue any pvc pieces that are inside of the overflow cover. There is no need to...

believe one of the ideas of sealing the drain connections in the overflow is that is that with power is off, you could possible drain the volume of your overflow chamber and if sump couldn't handle it, a floor.

Me, my bulkheads are threaded on the display side. I just screwed in a threaded adapter (TA) with no tape and then just slip fitted the drain stand pipe into the TA. Can't say I notice any leaking.

My pump return line goes through my chamber all is glued or taped there.
