return plumbing

I am planning, and collecting the parts for my new setup...I have a little dilema though.

I am planning on running a Mag 7 as my return and main water movement through an Ocean's Motions.

Now the Mag 7 has a 1/2" output......the bulkhead is a 3/4" diameter, as are the orrifices one the Ocean's Motions.....

Won't changing to 3/4" cause me to lose a lot of velocity? Do I convert everything I can to 1/2" by using reducers/adaptors, such as on the bulk head, and OM..

Thanks for the advice!

No.
You want flow, not velocity. You take care of velocity at the output nozzles. Use 1" up to the OM to get the flow.

BTW, if you haven't bough the Mag7 already, I would suggest you look at an Eheim 1260 instead. A ton more flow (despite the "ratings") and MUCH quieter.

Alright, I think I'll just step up the size at the pump, and keep it consistant throughout..........

The eheim looks nice, but its more than twice the price.
