return pump, bubbles from return pipe, crazy madness...again...

I just unplugged the powerhead on my retrun pump as I was switching it to a different power strip and...all of the sudden once I plug it back in...the actual white return pipe starts bubbling and gurgling and the loc lines in my tank seem to be spewing large white chunks of something.

This loud gurgling noise caused by masses of bubbles coming from the pipe returning the water is similar to the noise issue I experienced when I set up my tank. God, please not this nonsense again... please someone tell me all of this insanity will stop after a few hours.

It just sounds like you got air in your pipes/pump when it was off. I normally have to slowly turn the return pump off and on a few times to let the air out. Then within minutes it should be clear

I only had it off for about 3 seconds, and now hours later it's still very noisy.

Are you suggesting that I unplug it and plug it back in a few more times?

Oh wow, that really did the trick. Thanks sooo much for revealing this to me. I've been dreading ever having to unplug my return pump for the fear of a bubble attack, lol. I hope I didn't come across as a dullard, but I must confess to being very much a n00b in this hobby in terms of my equipment.

I have the same problem with my fluval 404. have to switch it off and on a couple of times. It is possible that the air gets in there by cavitation when the pump is first turned on. Just a guess.
