My big 24 cm diameter shoots about a liter of water some 8 m far every cycle!

WAH!!!!!!!! That is far and a lot of water... But for that I can vent it back into the sump?

This is really neat and I would love to see it running. I would like to see the functionality along with the air bubbles on the output if you have time.

huig,
What diameter was the pipe that vented air outside? What diameter was the pipe that is inside the RCSD? About how many liters was your RCSD?

Thanks,
Joe

Hi,

The venting tube is 5 cm diameter, the total volume about 25 l.
I' ll see if i can make a vid and post it here.

Hey huig,
I appreciate your drawing and pics and info. Was all very helpful. I tried a few times to download the latest version of Adobe Flash player, but my computer closes windows on me every time. It sucks because there are other videos I can't see. Don't know what the deal is. Oh well.

Do you have a thread on your sunlit reef?
Thanks,
Joe

Well computers can do strange things...

For the RCSD if you feel 10 % volume lost to it is no problem go for it. Just plan in advance.
Also a thing to take into consideration is the noise, even 'silenced' they make noise. But when my was running on the Mediterranean tank I did turn it off at night otherwise my girlfriend would have killed me.

Actually I found it a rather relaxing sound, more or less like waves crashing on the beach...

I have no thread on the sunlit reef (so lazy) but I could start one. The only problem is taking nice pics as it is very difficult to get one without reflections. The best ones are on cloudy days or at dawn.
