Reverse Coral Plug?

I'm trying to get my first coral plugs from a fellow reefer, however they mention that there is this "reverse coral" plug on top of the zoas that can't be removed. I'm a little confused... he says they can never be removed and has had them for 5 months???

Here's a pic in the center a little to the left

what is it and why can't it be removed?

I've seen similar ones that have a hole in the top mainly for acros and branching lps. Kind of like a plug with a cup on top. Might be a plug like that.

thanks for the info, i'm guessing if this is the case then perhaps i can maybe break apart the frag and split up the pieces?

Just leave it, they will grow over it
my only thought is that the zoas are kind of short and i don't think they will outgrow the height of the plug.
