wht is the approx. life line of the R.O. membrane. i have a 1yr+ old one right now. wht are your thoughts? i just changed the two carbon and sediment cartriges. and where can i buy the membrane? thanks.
Depends how bad your water is but generally 3-5 years. I like to replace mine every 2 years. Get a TDS meter and test it. If you are getting zero to very low TDS then no need to sweat it. However if it's high, then you may have to change it out early on. You can buy the membrane from pretty much any online vendor that sells RO/DI systems. Just make sure the GPD are the same.
Depending upon what membrane you have, you should expect it to remove apx 90% (or more) of the tds in the feed water. You'll not see a membrane take the tds to zero.
Most systems these days use TFC membranes - CTA membrane were more common "back in the day."
