Rhizotrochus care

Just got my first rhyzo on saturday from Cherry Corals.

Mother of God this thing is awesome. I thought it was great the first day...went down there the next night (tonight) and HOLY CRAP! that thing nothing short of amazing....5 times the size it was yesterday. Eats like the monster it is.

Picked this one up a few weeks ago, very pink with bright pink/red flames that you can just barely see in this pic.

Gotta love these guys, can't wait for the day when we figure out how to aquaculture them in decent numbers.

My rhizo about 6 months ~ 1 year in my tank . I have 4 of the collection but picture not actually show the true color . It more easy to keep compare to others sun coral for me cause just feeding once a month will do . They only fully open during night time or actinic time but close during day time . 2 of my rhizo found that the skeleton already growing downward to stick on the liverock and not able to take it out anymore .

seng, Very nice collection. I find that mine open a little by day but way more in the night and early morning hours when I am up getting ready for work. When I feed during the day they get more extended.

Wow... Thats a sweet collection Seng... :D I like how you have them all mounted next to one another...

My red one will extend a little with the lights on, especially if I fed them the night before... The white one plays better at night...

I agree on the silversides, I fed mine a whole silverside the other night and I have never seen the rhizo so expanded the following morning!

I'm hoping my white one will open up a bit more so I can get a nice pic of it... Its eating fine, but isn't as happy as the Red...

Well, its been a couple of months and my white one is doing fantastic... :D Thought I'd snap a pic since I promised and was taking pics of the Reverse Watermelons... ;)

Well thank you... :)

Oh, and I feed mine mainly PE Mysis... Mine don't really care for silversides... They gobble them up, but then at night they spit them out, and it just goes to hermit crab food...

Some one lectured at MACNA a couple years ago that you shouldn't feed anything larger than the tentacles or polyps of the item you are feeding... The one exception was for Anemones... They said feeding large chunks of Silversides and other meaty substances were more likely to be spit out while not observing the tank than consumed... I've observed this to be the case a few evenings with my Rhyzos, so I only feed them Mysis anymore... Well, and whatever they catch when I feed my fish... I wish I could remember the speaker... :( But this is just my experience... Take it for what its worth to you... :)
