I measured mine before they went in (quickly), and the red is about 1.75"L x 1.25"W, and the white is about 3.25"L x 1.75"W. Thats the skeleton too, they will expand as they open of course.Originally posted by RobynT
How big are they in comparison to a dendro?

Nope they're not photosynthetic at all.
Sang, I assume you got them from Rommel?

I fed mine some mysis, and man these things are ferocious!!! It snagged some up right away and threw it into its mouth! AWESOME! Eats faster than my dendro or tubastrea, and even faster than most anemones I've kept - crazy - I could definently see them taking out an injured or weak fish.
Todd @ Cherry Corals had another red that was larger, about 3.5"L x 2"W, and a couple whites the same size as mine, and fed them and man it was just like a Mako feeding frenzy I watched (on TV) earlier, but with giant LPS polyps! Simply AWESOME!!!

my rhizo are the same way, he is so big..3 time bigger when turn off, but when the light turn on,he's open but not as big a when the light shut off.. still wonder just like u.. hopeful we can find outOriginally posted by stunreefer
Tam, Thanks for the tips, and NICE TANK!!!
I'm curious, it appears you have your rhizo in direct light. Mine seemed to be able to sense light, which I know some photosynthetic corals can but I didn't think rhizos could (seen them in direct light in other tanks). When I came home from lunch today(the lights are off then), he was more open (appeared fully open) than I've ever seen him. Then I had to bag some corals so I turned the light on for a second, and when I looked back at the rhizo, he had closed up almost a quarter, to half of the way. Anybody have any thoughts pertaining to their ability to sense light?

If your witnessing this too, I think its a safe assumption that they can sense light. My intial thought when I witnessed this was that they could, but I wasn't sure if my hand being above/around it made it close (my hand wasn't that close). I'm going to build a little "shade" for them, and I'll see what happens. I would like to just put them in a cave, but they're in my frag tank, so all rock is in sump.
Little bit of everything to see what they like best... I dont think they care at all! Any meaty food they just devour! So far they've recieved some Rods' Food, Mysis shrimp, and Ocean Nutrition F1 (I think thats which one). Anyways, I have been feeding them tiny bit two times a day, or a little larger feeding once a day. I enjoy feeding them, so I'm liking the tiny bits two times a day better!Originally posted by Tam Reef

I have a TEK 6-54w T5 fixture about 8" off the water surface.
Yah the mouth is and has always been a pinkish color.
Thanks for the compliments![]()
