I see that some people have there's sitting facing upwards, and some facing sideways, which is the correct placement?
I have mine facing upwards, but the few pics of them in nature I've seen they appear to be more sideways. I dont think it really matters though, as long as they are properly placed (ie flow and light). When I move them to the new big tank, I plan on mounting them sideways on the inside of an arch or cave.

I have mine facing sidways in a cave/nook, Just wanted to know if they rely a lot on food falling onto them in the wild (facing upwards) or if they are more active feeders (which they would have to be if they sat facing sideways) Just wondering outloud.

I find Rhyzo's to do well upright or on an angle. They are very active feeders with tentacles being very sticky and almost always snag a meal when I feed.

The three I have are in an area with good current so they are guaranteed a meal.

I am providing more light than is necessary that is for sure but the Rhyzo's have gotten used to this and are open all day and night. The red's color is probably not as intense as it could be given a lower light environment.

One of my all time favorite corals, and surprisingly easy to keep.

I keep mine facing upwards underneath a hammer oyster which shades it from the halides. Seems to be open all the time.

been in the tank for about a week now, seems to be settling in

My rhizo stays open all day, but almost triples in size during the night. I wish it was as large during the daytime. Very cool creature.

I have seen them from ~$250 for whites and up to $800 for Reds Oranges or Pinks, I'd imagine an exceptionally colored animal could easily go for more than that.

I believe some vendors were already discussed earlier in the thread (which is what led me to my recent Rhizo purchase...;-)

Good luck, they are awesome animals.

Here are mine that I got a few months ago. I think they are sweet.
I got a red one and a white one from Ultimatefrags.com. This is as I was putting them in my tank.

Here is the red one in actinics.

Here are both of them at night fully inflated. They get huge at night. And are so cool. I am trying to train them to stay open during the day.

Here are couple of dendro shots I took one of the same nights.

Just how many different color morphs are available?
I heard there are yellow, orange ones as well beside the pink and white

If I could .... I wouldn't mind a tankful of all different sorts of colored Rhyzos .... just my Poor 2 cents :( !!

Tagging along, I just purchased a single polyp about a week ago. It has only slightly opened after all the lights have gone out. I need to try and target feed it tonight and see if it will accept some mysis. I will try and snap a shot at the same time.
