Rhomboid Fairy Wrasse QT

I am thinking about picking up a Rhomboid Fairy Wrasse today. I have a 20 gal QT with SG 1.012 that will be lowered to 1.010 tomorrow. The light over QT is Orbit Marine with a controller, so I can make it as dim as I want. As far as meds, I will only use Prazipro.
I have read mixed experiences on hardiness of Rhomboids in QT. Any advice on more gentle acclimation is appreciated. Thank you.
 
I would match the SG of the QT to that of the transport bag or LFS, first and foremost. That way, all you need to do is temperature-acclimate for 20 minutes and release into the QT.

I can't comment on Rhomboids specifically, but my Exquisite took well over a week to get used to captivity. He hid behind PVC in stress coloration for most of that time. Now, he's probably the most well-adjusted fish I have - super social and doesn't bother anyone. I did notice a strange reaction to Prazipro with the Exquisite - it seemed to disrupt his sleeping patterns. I would find him swimming around the QT late at night, almost like he was half awake. The behavior stopped once the treatment regimen ended. I also did TTM, as I do with all new acquisitions. Didn't bother him a bit.

Steve, this particular store gets fish in a few times a week constantly introducing parasites to their system with copper. Thus I was going to run hypo for 4 weeks.

Hypo, even if executed properly (which is difficult and four weeks may not be sufficient) only affects cryptocaryon irritans. If the source runs a low level of copper, other parasites are a greater concern than ich.

Thanks. I picked one up just now. The wrasse was in their "reef" section with corals and without copper. I made sure it ate. I'll slowly drip acclimate the wrasse to lower salinity. I'll update this thread if I run into problems.
 
By the way, 4 weeks has been good enough for me in the past even with infected Kole tang but I see no harm in going 6 weeks with hypo.
 
I started the drip acclimation process that will go for 90-120 mins. Here is the wrasse (female or young submale)

The wrasse is in QT after 90 mins of drip acclimation. It took about 60 mins to match salinity and the rest was just to get used to water a little more. I ran out of PVC fittings and put a claypot instead.

Just a heads as I'm about to be using PraziPro for the 1st time with all my wrasses involved (using any medication) and received advice from HumbleFish that you don't want to overdose, if in doubt underdose. That was his response to me asking about flukes dealing with wrasses, as I've heard both good and bad.

Thanks, I've been using it for a couple of years now, just following the directions.
 
I was very tempted to get either a Splendid Pintail fairy wrasse or a Hawaiian Flame wrasse today as well but I wasn't sure how one of them would get a long in a 20 gallon QT with the Rhomboid. Next time :)
 
The Rhomboid is doing great. I picked up a Spelndid Pintail Fairy Wrasse today. I know it will reset my QT clock for the Rhomboid but one week isn't a big deal.

I haven't had any issues qt'ing rhomboids. Qt'd 2 in a 20gal tank together with no issues. They seem pretty hardy.
