Hey everyone. My name is Joshua and I am starting a local reef club in rhode island. We have some great lfs in the area an I want to spread the word about the club. I would ask the mods to give your club a board in the reef club section of the forum. You also might want to post when and where your next meeting is.

RI is a small state, does it really need 2 clubs? There is the TriState Reefer. I think they have ~15 members

Ri is a small state but I think there are more people out there that might not be able to go to ct for meetings. I also want to start a co- op coral breeding program. Thanks tank o tang for the info.

I'm suprised Jeff that you would not be more open to a club in Ri. I think that the more of these clubs that we have going the better it would be for everyone in the hobby. People in Ri might not want to drive along way to go to a meeting, so I figured that I would start something for us. I also know about six people that are in the hobby that don't belong to any clubs.

Hey guys just wanted to give you a heads up about the meeting I am planning for January. It will be a meet and greet and general discussion about the direction of the club. There will be food and refreshments there as well. The meeting will be held at Water World aquariums in harmony Ri. The address is 401 Putnam pike harmony Ri 02829. They are under new ownership and very excited to be hosting the meeting for us. I would like to get some kind of a head count for the meeting so if u could email me at Ri.reefsociety@gmail.com that would be great or you could post to this thread. I will try to make it to the BRS meeting because I have an arthroscopy surgery the 6th on January. When are you planning the meeting at Water World? I've been a couple of times to Daniel's place.

It is kind of hard to drive almost 2 hours to a club meeting at BRS =(

I hear you on the drive. I am trying to plan the meeting on the third Saturday of every month. The first few will be at water world then I would like people to start hosting at there homes or at other aquarium stores around Ri. There is a store on mineral spring ave in north providence that said I could do a meeting at his store on Thursday nights. He gets a huge shipment of corals and fish every Thursday, and stays open untill 10. Plus there will be tons of other people there as well. Good luck with your surgery and if there is anything I can do for you send me an email. Also if you want to carpool to the brs meeting let me know I have about three people going so far.

I am interested in joining the club, I am based in eastern, CT. Are you planning on having any meetings down in Warwick or Westerly, RI?

We could definitely do some meetings over there if we can find someone to host it. I know some of the guys at something fishy on jeferson blvd. So I can talk to them and see if we could do a meeting or two there. If you know any other fish stores that would be willing to host a meeting let me know.

I don't personally know the guys at Something's Fishy, I have been in their store once and they seem to be very into fragging and captive raising of fish. I don't know of any stores near the CT/ RI border.
