Ric staying retracted

I recently purchased my first pair of ricordea's and placed them on the sand bed right along a peice of rock to shelter them from the high flow(this is a mixed reef so it has both the light and flow needed for SPS) One of the two is fully open all the time, however the other has never really fully opened back up since I brought it home. I tried switching the places of the two and get the same result...I know pics are worth a thousand words and I will try to get some when I get home from work. Any suggestions on what may be causing this? Water conditions are all pristine, all the other corals(minus a beat up lobo brain I am trying to save)are perfectly happy fully open, sps have great PE. The only livestock I have is a fire shrimp who never even goes near where the rics are, an emerald crab who is in the same boat, and a coral beauty...I have sat and observed from a distance for a few hours total to see if he liked ric's(he doesnt nip at anythign else) and he doesnt bother them...other than that typical CUC, a few hermits and some snails.

Here is a pic shortly after I put them in the tank, I have switched their places, I will get apic of it being closed up today after work, the one that seems unhappy is the orange.

How long have you just let them sit there? Rics can be pretty sensitive to being moved around a lot. Just let them be, and give them a week.

Ok will try that, I got them last Saturday and just switched the spot they were in on wed. On a side note will they usually eat lps pellets?

Awesome! Glad I could help!

Yeah Rics will eat just about anything they can open up their mouths for. But don't feed them every day. Probably best every couple of days. They eat pretty slowly too, so you might have to keep an eye on it to make sure that nothing steals the food out of their mouths. Best to feed the rest of the tank first, then a small something. I usually feed mine mysis or brine shrimp.
