Ricordea Florida reproduction question

I have an orange Ricordea Florida that was about the size of a silver dollar. It has now suddenly shrunk to the size of a quarter but now has two mouths (I swear it only had one yesterday). I know these coral frequently reproduce through fission but I hadn't read that they tighten their body up when they do this. It doesn't look like it has melted, just like it has deflated.

Should I be freaking out or is this what they do when they reproduce?

Sometimes shrinking isn't a bad thing IMO. Did you change your lighting or flow around the ric?

It bounced back within a day and I can see the outside blue slowly working its way down the middle of the orange. I'm starting to see the outline of two distinct heads (with mouths) from the single head I started with. Lighting and flow haven't changed, but it has also only been in the tank for about a month.

Its looking just fine now. As you said, shrinking doesn't seem to be a bad thing in this case - glad to hear it from someone else.

it will take so time before you have two (month or so)
some people cut them with a knife
not me though i like to just give them time and let them split on there own
