Ricordea Group Buy - ASAP

You are all very welcome. Glad you had fun.

The multiple mouths is totally normal. Just seconding newtanksmell on that.

About 10 - 15 Rics Extra - $10
I did have extras, since I ordered the difference to make 50. I have the rics for the remaining people set aside, but whatever is left over is up for grabs. Well, $10 per polyp of course.

Hey Jared,
I'd be interested in a couple of ric's. Please let me know if you have some extras available. I could pick up this weekend if thats ok with you

Thanks,
Jimmy

Hey cool. Thanks for the group buy. Lot's of new stuff for the tank.

So a little story: So I decided that I hit a threshold in my display. I needed to setup a quarantine tank because I'm starting to have quite a bit of value wrapped up in the display. I'd been a maverick until now. Throwing caution to the wind...

So I put my small Acro in the Q tank along with the jawfish and the ricordia and the snails. The first night I heard clicking noises. I have a bare bottom Q Tank and thought maybe it's the conch's shells hitting the glass as they move.

I removed the snails. The next night, the clicking continued. Ah Ha! While I haven't seen the little bugger yet, I'm betting I have a mantis shrimp hitchhiker. On a small Acro frag no less. I wouldn't have expected it. My wife and I pulled it out and locked around it with a flash light. There is a small cave accessible from the top of the acro. My wife things she could see something brown down in there.

All I can say is I'm very glad I decided to setup and use my Q Tank.

Figure out if its a mantis or a pistol, first. Some folks like certain mantis' (like Peacocks or even greens as specimens, so you could see if someone wants the little killer.). Also, if a mantis, you could grow it out real big and then invest in gold boullion('tis inert) and then put it in the tank, maybe along with a large Queen Trigger. Then, invite everyone you know over for a party. You, should find out rather quickly who you can trust<evil smile>

Seriously, I'd put him in his own little QT w/a shell or like for hiding and get a positive ID and just see it someone does want him. Nonetheless, good game - other fun ideas as what to do with a mantis?

I agree. It very likely could be a pistol shrimp. However you probalby will never see it. Pistol shrimp are very shy and rarely come out in the open. The only time I see my pistol shrimp is when I have a shrimp goby.

I did try the open air method for getting him to jump ship on the coral and also the freshwater dip for about 30 seconds. He didn't budge for either. So far it's just been the clicking. So yeah it could be a pistol shrimp. I haven't heard the repetitive clicks typical of a mantis yet so it still really is up on the air whether it's a pistol shrimp or mantis

I am going to put together a bait trap. I might have to wait for my jawfish quarantine period to expire so it will work. I'm feeding the jawfish often enough that my "shimp" is likely getting something to eat as it is at night and isn't forced to venture far.

Once the jawfish is gone, the bait will be the only food source and at some point will become more impelling

I've got rics that need to go. Breaking down tank. You gotta see my thread.

$10 per polyp. Need to get them out Wednesday. Call me:
