ricordeas and rubble

I have a bunch of loose rics throughout my tank with nothing on its foot and unattached. Can I buy small rubble or small smooth rocks so I can put them in a tupperware container? Like what they do at some fish stores.

I had broken up pieces of live rock with a chisel and hammer but it seem like it didn't really work because they ended up have sharp edges. Tia!

I just bought a lbs of the largest "sand" my LFS had. The stuff was huge and gives me plenty to work with once the ric grabed on to some.

we keep our rics on a bed of gravel, most of the gravel pieces are smaller than a dime in size. or tanks dont have much flow so the rics are able to settle down at attach to the gravel.

you can get gravel of various sizes in small amounts at homedepot. just be sure to wash it really well before you put it inside your tank.

Will the gravel from home depot mess with my water chemistry even after I give it a good rinsing?

This might be a dumb question but can it give my tank a mini cycle? Does it have to to be cured?

it really depends on what type of gravel you choose.

you really shouldnt need that much of it.

just enough to fill a small container with and then put the polyps down in the container and cover the container with screen or whatever you use to keep the polyps down.

yes it can mess with your water chem. look at some of the posts on products from home depot and water quality issue's

Don't use home depot rock just get a small amount of crushed coral from your LFS and place it in a small container. Allow your rics to attach to the rumble in a low flow area of your tank. It may take a few weeks.
