Sorry, this is kind of out of the blue.

Aquariums Obsessed quoted me almost $2000 for tank with the following specs:

48x30x24
The front and sides 19mm starphire glass
The back and bottom 19mm regular glass
An internal greylite glass overflow
2 holes
All glass edges ground and polished
1 year warranty on tank

My question is, is this price in range of other competitors? I am thinking it's kind of high but then again they do good work from what I have read.

age is top quality for sure. Didn't know they used pvc back panel though. Thought it was just bottom

I think the vast majority of the time it is just the bottom panel.

I'd suggest getting a quote from Miracles Aquarium. They quoted me about $300 less than AO.

+1 for those sort of dimensions. Plus you get to save on shipping being local vs. my quote.

I love all of your tanks!

Hopefully I will be joining the club soon.

Rainingshots, please contact Miracles about a quote. I had them quote me a tank in the fall with dimensions of 63" x 30" x 24" and with shipping to me it was only slightly above $2k.

Ok, so I shouldn't let the fact that they are located in Canada bother me in choosing them as a tank builder, regardless of where I live in the USA?

Before when I was shopping around, AGE was my choice, and they are super good and you pay for what you get! I just always thought if the builder was in Canada, the shipping on a heavy aquarium would be twice the price of the tank itself...?

well AGE will be closer ;) and usually cheaper on shipping.

i have spoken to 2 people in the midwest who had quotes from Miracles and AGE come very close with shipping factored in.

also make sure you are being quoted price including taxes as canada has almost 30% sales tax.

Ouch! 30% wow. I do love the AGE tanks.
I'm just a beginner really, been out of the game for 10+ years.
I'm thinking of just staring with a Solana and get back into the game and learn about all the technical details that are new to the hobby since I left many moons ago...then one day upgrading to something bigger...

But my love for triggers has me thinking of starting at least 75gal - 100gal...so I can have that beautiful fish that is in my avatar!

I haven't decided yet. On the fence. I know lots of people start small and go big, and I've seen people start big and go small.

Choices!

I got 3 quotes on my tank. Both tanks from Canada were cheaper than the AGE. Another factor in my choosing Miracles over AGE was the warranty. I could not forego a warranty from AGE if I didn't purchase a stand from them for a 3 year warranty or have someone they approve build one and get a 1 year warranty. I have a friend who builds wood stands for me and having that would void the AGE warranty. I still get a 1 year warranty from Miracles regardless of the stand.

Also, are you serious it's a 30% tax? I know if you live in Ontario there's a 5% and a 8% tax on materials, but I didn't realize there's that much more tax if shipping out of the country.

Cool, thanks for the clarification! I've spent the last 4 weeks up in Toronto helping with a project set-up and I've gotten to know all about that 13% tax!

I still like the AGE PCV bottom, and their overflow work.
I live in Oklahoma, so a short drive to Texas would help save on shipping...but not sure I'm ready for a custom tank yet!

is there anything you guys would do different if you were to re-setup your rimless tanks? I just want to be prepared as I am setting mine up soon.

Thanks

Miracles quoted us $1465 incl. tax for a 48 x 30 x 18 3-side starphire, external coast to coast overflow. Plus $80 delivery.

Just delivered yesterday...

Please do a tank build post. I really like your tank and would love to see it setup.
