Great tanks!
I'm looking at ordering 21x21x16 cube with external overflow.
What do you think of this size? I can't go any wider than this or
it won't fit on the stand.

Let first say to all of you awesome looking tanks! They are all very beautiful.

I am in the process of tanking quotes on a custome tank based on the dimensions of the Elos 160xl (63"L x 31.5"W x 24"H). I am attempting to get as many quotes as possible. I have a list so far of builders, but tell me who I'm missing;

1) Miracles - Had a quote from last fall, $2000 and change.

2) Deep Sea - Just got a quote, $4659, more than the Elos!

3) Ocea - Awaiting quote, located in AL.

4) Glass Cages - Had a semi quote from a couple of months ago, $2400 + shipping or cost of pick up.

5)AO - Haven't sent for a quote yet.

6) Visio - Can't find any contact info for them.

7) Lee-Mar - Can't find any contact info for them.

Bill,

This is the company you are missing, my favorite custom tank designer/builder of all time...

Just for an example build, check out this guys tank from AGE!

You're right I did forget them. I will drop them a line today.

Bill,

I'm not sure they work directly with the public, you will have to go through your LFS, or there are a few people you can go through who are in close proximity to them...

KingFishJohn, who is on here, and works here can start you down their path...

For those of you with acrylic tanks, how bad have you accidently scratched them? That is a really big concern of mine and the primary reason that I was looking at glass, and really the starphire glass. Also I will be using at least (2) 250w MH above this tank along with some T-5's. Has anyone had any warping or distortion due to the heat?

Chris- Thanks for the link, that will surely save some time!

I just recieved a quote from Ocea. For my dimensions, stand, hanging canopy and delivery, $2500. But this would have to be a euro braced tank, with 1/2" starphire. I would have to add about a $1k to go rimless with 3/4" starphire glass.

Acrylic scratches, I have to be gentle with it, but it is totally clear, more than starfire. And it won't shatter. I know I will move this tank many times and I was thinking about that when I got it.

That said my next tank when I buy a home will be made by AGE, starfire on 3 sides, bottom and back panels PVC

Starphire scratches pretty easy also. It is low in iron and how they get it to be so clear. I replaced my front pane with it. IMO unless you have a regular glass tank next to a low iron tank your not going to see the difference. Suffice it to say, my next tank will be regular glass and I will save some money~

AJO I missed it, who made that tank?

Also everyone with Glass Cages tanks why do they run that brace on the bottom?

I ordered it through Amazing Aquariums and Reefs, located in Orange, CA. I'm very happy with the quality of work they do.

What is the size/dimensions of this tank AJO?
What kind of sand did you add?
Its very "ELOS" like, I am digging it. Do you have links to other pictures I've missed before these?

It's a reinforcement for the bottom. Basically adds structural strength and alot more silicone to help prevent leaks/blowouts of the bottom seams.

Most tank builders who build a "floating bottom" (sides outside of the bottom panel) add this brace.

So is the brace inside or out? What do you do if you want to go
bare bottom?
