how long have you had the wrasse in there? I would like to get one but am worried about them jumping out.

What is the maximum size y'all would go with rimless?

I'm planning on a large tank for my home office (I love deep tanks) and am thinking about going with a 48x48x24 tank or with a 48x36x24 tank depending on what fits the best.

Any advice or feedback yall have with bigger rimless tanks? I checked out a couple build threads and there did not appear to be many concerns but without bracing I worry!

i cannot find a damn rimless tank for the life of me! tried to order a clear for life acrylic 75 but its backordered and only 15" deep not the full 18 and im upgrading from a 55 for the depth...... im in northeast ohio any suggestions?

For half the price or less you can do your own and with whatever dimensions you want. I picked up what was considered "scrap pieces" by an acrylic vendor and did a 36x32x18 (90g) rimless for about 15% of the price of a pre-built tank. Even if you can't find a place with a scrap bin to choose from you can have acrylic cut to order for much less than CFL or anyone else charges.

Could go with a glass one from Glasscages since its so small glass is not that heavy.

I bought a 36x36x18 for $240 under their "specials" tab. It was extremely well built. Normally still only around $450 and they ship to depots not far away. I only had to drive 25 minutes to pick my tank up and it was shipped for $80...

Finally got mine setup....69"long x 26"deep x 24" tall. 3/4" starphire glass. 8 bulb 60" ati. Remote sump in the fish closet..lol.

You could give Felix at Reef Savvy a call. I went through Living Reef Orlando once I decided upon the dimensions - 40x30x18. I am now just doing the waiting game, and ordering equipment, while Felix works his magic

It depends on manufacturer. My rimless is 96x36x23

Definitely will. Although I have nothing to compare it to. They were running a special which made the price a bit better. Also, they have been great to work with... very patient with me. I requested quotes from other builders and no one would return my emails or calls. It's been over a month and CTC is the only one that contacted me, which they did in a matter of hours.

I just got off the phone with Chris at CTC and am looking at getting a 52x36x20 built but having a hard time deciding on overflow placement and whether or not to go black on back panel. Some super nice tanks on this thread and looking forward to getting mine. Will most likely go with euro braced.

Some input that may help u decide.
I chose to go with two large trapezoid internal overflow boxes because of aesthetics as to where the tank is located. I wanted the tank close to the wall and did not want plumbing visible behind the tank. Tank is in high traffic pattern area. If these aesthetics werent important to me i would much prefer a coast to coast external overflow box as it provides much more space inside tank.
Also, i much prefer a black background over clear or any blue. Blue is indeed nice but only when clean imo.

Hope this helps.
Oh yea, also, always go bigger if u can.

Thanks, I'd love to go bigger but anything beyond 52 inch from them and the price jumps up 750. I'm looking at 2600 for the size mentioned above. Sorry but that's a lot to spend on a glass box. Wish I could find something similar a bit cheaper and put the money into lighting

New rimless

New rimless

Just picked up a planet aquariums rimless. 48x30x20 with an external overflow and pvc bottom.

It'll take awhile to get together but should be fun.

Had a 180 10 years ago. Never liked the dimensions. Hoping I enjoy this one more.

Peace

Help purchasing Rimless tank

Help purchasing Rimless tank

I currently have a 12 gallon cube tank that I have upgraded over the 9 years I have it running. I upgraded the pump and have taken the top off. I had MHL lighting and recently swapped that out for LEDs. I love the look of rimless tanks. I would like to put a rimless tank in the corner. Can anyone recommend a company that I can purchase rimless, corner tank. I want something larger than I currently have, but not too much larger. Acrylic or glass? Any help is appreciated
I live in NJ on the shore
