Rimless Aquarium Club

I would put the light over the tank, how is the build going? Nice tank, that tank is my second favorite size my favorite is the 36 x30 tank.

Hardeeharhar.
;)
:)

Got all the plumbing done for both new tanks yesterday, both of my Reeflos are locked up solid.
I ordered a Waveline DC15000 for a return.

Have you leak tested the marineland 93 cube? I am I retested to see how your silicone seams look. I had to return two tanks due to bad seams.

I thought I read online somewhere that you only should support the sides of a rimless aquarium. Not the whole bottom panel. Any truth to that??

I asked Marineland on this when I built the stand... full bottom support, excepting bulkheads, no foam or padding.

Marineland Support said:
The bottom glass floats inside the vertical glass, but it is built flush at the bottom. A solid top stand would be fine for this tank, but the perimeter support still needs to be there from the tank to the floor. No foam should be needed as long as the stand is flat and level.

It seems like this may be the place to ask a question about a dsa 105 and ai ext light brackets. so.. here it goes

I am in the process of building my dsa 105 rimless. It measures 48x24x18. I just purchased the AI ext 48" mounting brackets and the 6" top extender bracket where the lights mount to. My question is is the 6 inch bracket enough or is the 12" what I need to center it. The bracket is mounted behind the tank so it comes from back to front. I don't have the lights yet and probably won't till after Christmas and the holidays(3 kids) $$$$$ lol anyone that has the AI hydra 52 with any thoughts on this?

Might be adding more flow to my eurobraced tank. I like the look of the sleek top, so now I run MP 40's on the tank however I might need to place a pump on the overflow box to get more flow into the center of the tank. Not sure yet. But I want to keep with the no wires on top of the tank look

I am having a aquarium company custom make me a starphire rimless tank. The dimensions are 72'' long 30'' wide and 23'' high peninsula. They said it can be made with half inch glass.I change the bottom and the left side where my overflow is to 5/8 glass. Will this tank hold up?

That's scary. My new tank is only 48 X 30 X 21. Manufacturer insisted on 3/4" rear and 5/8" thruout with the back being tempered.

:mad:I have gotten a quote from Reef Savvy here in florida.I almost fainted! LOL.The company I am going with is less than half the price at $2,100.once i put the tank in place I will not move it for years to come. This is my dream tank that I got my wife to ok it.I wish someone in the rimless reef club can help me with this.

The math this calculator is based on assumes that all panes are supported on all four sides. That means either Euro bracing or a top frame.
Any input on my tank? the tank itself is 72wx30dx24h starphire glass. What should the thickness be? Is there a calculator for it?

Who is the company? What glass was Reef Savvy going to use? Did you get any other quotes? Try Planet Aquariums or Miracles. You can get other price points and see what size glass they use. If they all use 3/4" then I would assume that is best.
