Rimless Aquarium Club

My view is the looks.

If I'm going to spend all the money on a Rimless, I don't want to sleek look to be offset by a big block of pink or blue foam.

Beautiful Tank Mchava!!!!

I have a question, i been looking into building a Rimless Tank around 26x26x15 but i am getting too many mix answers on the thickness of the glass I was told to go 1/4 then to 3/8 and now 1/2 inch what should or could use to not give me a panic attack? Is there an additional brace that is made to help support a rimless tank?
Should i go bigger maybe in the 50-60 range?
this will be my 3rd tank to my build

can't remember where i saw this, but i saved this pic cause i FREAKING LOVE this tank...... 72 x 40 x 24 :eek2:

gives me a tingly feeling below my belt every time i think how i'd like to have this beauty in my living room one of these days LOL

Here is a quick update shot of mine, setup about 8 months ago now. I'm still loving the rimless design!

Nice tank dude. I like the specs. How are you liking the 250w radium hqi? Thinking of getting the 250 12k reeflux SE mogul pendant for my tank. T5's not doing it for me anymore.

I have been very happy with the Radium HQI. I had a reeflux 12k (on an e-ballast) on my last tank and it needed actinic supplementation whereas the Radium looks great by itself. I do have an 18" VHO Super Actinic-R stuffed up into the Lumenarc that I use for the dusk-dawn effect, but it isn't on when the Radium is.

Was that a 12k hqi or SE (mogul)?

If you go back to the very first post in this thread you'll find this tank. Unfortunately, I believe he had to break it down. That tank inspired me to get a Rimless.

you are correct....i didn't go pre-split when reading the thread & posting that LOL

I also love the rimless look and have a 34G Solana rimless and a 175G eurobraced. I am thinking of going to one larger rimless tank but the one thing I find irritating about the Solana is that when cleaning the glass with a magnetic scrubber, I inevitably spill water over the top onto the outside. Is this a problem others have or do you leave the water depth a couple inches below the rim to avoid this or not use a magnetic scrubber or ??

I've had some suggest to me 2 - 2.5 inches from the top should do the trick.. Also when you think about it, it's probably better to be safe than sorry.. As the teeth of your overflow become obstructed from algae and other particles, your tank level will rise.. If your level is already high, you may have a bit of a mess on you hands before you realize it..

Thought I will update mine:
