Rimless tank with a lid to prevent jumpers... does this defeat purpose?

I have a rimless tank but I put a screen top on it to prevent wrasses from jumping... my wife thinks its silly because I paid extra for the rimless look.

If I do another build, would it make sense to go euro-braced and put the lid on or canopy, instead of rimless with a screen top?

Is there any reason you would want a rimless tank and still put a lid on it?

I think a lot of it has to do with the type of screen top you use. I bought an Artfully Acrylics screen top, which sits flush to the top of the tank. I don't think it detracts from the tank IMO.

Interesting.. I ordered one of their lids too.. Im still waiting for it as theres a 6 week wait time..

Also, I posted on wrong forum! lol...

I made my own screen to fit inside the glass and then flush mounted it with some acrylic tabs in the corners. I don't think it detracts from the rimless look at all.

That was my method as well. It works great! I bought the mesh from BRS, and the rest from Home Depot.

I dont think it defeats the purpose since most sit flush. Rimless are...hard for me to understand bc at some point something will get out.

Got to go with your wife on this one. Only rimless tank I have is my frag tank - haven't had a frag jump yet . Otherwise, since I need a screen, I just don't see the point.
