Rinsing dry rock

I need to rinse my dry rock due to lots of dust and small rock pieces. Can I rinse with tap water and then add to the tank or should I allow them to dry before adding to the tank?

Its likely that your tap water contains Chlorine/Chloramines that can take a bit of time to evaporate so its best to allow them to fully dry in the sun before adding to a tank..

If you're going to rinse it, use RODI water.

I rinse it in the utility sink, shake it off a bit, and toss it in the tank. If you want to get really fancy, after rinsing with tap, dip it in a bucket of tank water before you add it to the tank.


IMHO, using RO/DI water for something like that is just not necessary.
