Rinsing Sand

Gonna Need A Bigger Tank
Seems like I've seen this discussed before, but...
I've got 3 bags of Agramax Select for my new 90 gal...the bags say to rinse the sand, but I know some people have different opinions. Ideas????

Daryl i rinsed mine good when i bought mine a while back.

waterkeeper on the newbie (mods) forum says you dont have to

if you want it to be clear asap i would

I've rinsed sand before.....but I don't on a new tank. My filters pull out the super fine dust in a day or so....it's easier for me to rinse the filter pad/sock than the sand.

If I was adding sand to an established tank...I'd probably take the time to rinse it

I didn't rinse and it's actually working out very well...almost clear already. I did take extra care not to stir up the sand any more than necessary....hmmm, now if I can just get rid of the microbubbles from the ASM skimmer :)

I'm sure that will subside as it breaks in...if not.....on eof those sponge thingys (technical term) should help

Unless you can rinse in RO/DI water only, it's better not to rinse IMO. I would rather have the cloud for a few days than contaminants you get from tap water.

That was my thinking as well Dugg...and Donovan, I hope you're right about the microbubbles (and I'm going out to get the sponge thing :) )

It's cleared up my aqua c skimmers and the one on my backpack fuge.......

Make sure you ask for the "sponge thingy" so they know what you're talking about.
