RIP Art

Haven't seen my N wennerae for three weeks. His last molt was almost two weeks long so I've been holding out hope that this was a long molt. But he still hasn't shown even with his favorite food on a feeding stick right where he likes it.

Here's the original thread when I got him, Got My Mantis 4 1/2 years ago. Not bad for a species that only lives around four years total.

People might wonder why a mighty hunter was named "Art". When I first got him this poster was above his tank, Expose Yourself to Art .

That sucks. Are you sure it is dead? If you are positive check his hole. If it is truly dead from a bad molt the shell will likely be still there. It'd be best to make sure before you do anything else (like take the tank apart and give the LR to a friend who doesn't want a mantis)

They actually live around 7 years if I remember right, but if you picked it up at 3" it was already likely 3-4 years old already. Sorry for your loss :(

Not going to tear the tank down but I doubt another mantis can live there. Any evidence of a bad molt/death would have been consumed by his two roommates. I also suspect he may have been eaten by one of them. The flower anemones were about an inch across when I got them.

Don't think there's much that can live with those two predators.
