You may not know the name, but you've seen her work. Undeniably one of the foremost B&W portrait and documentary photographers of our time. She died Monday at the age of 75. She was well known for being able to bring out the vulnerability and humanity in her subjects. In my younger film days, I had a chance meet with her. My brother conducted the Westminster Choir a few decades ago and she was shooting documentary that involved him. She was a very humble woman that could ramble on once she started talking. She also enjoyed talking to and photographing areas of society most of us do our best to avoid. I know of no one left to take her place.
