Hi I was just wondering what I should feed my anenome and where to buy whatever I should feed. I cannot seam to find an answer. Thanks

You've got an H. Magnifica? Cool...any pics?

A lot of people feed their anemones Silversides...your LFS should have some, or should be able to order them for you.

Other people swear by fresh seafood from the grocery store, shrimp, krill, scallops, squid, etc.

Good luck!

how long have you had it? what lights do you have ? what filtration
what is your in tank flow like?

can you post a picture?

I usually take the frozen mysis cubes and put them in one of those pincher things for feeding eels and stuff, then I let it start melting in the tank and stuff starts falling off.
Once at that point I put it above my anemone and shake the mysis cube, it falls off all over my anemones tenticle allowing him to catch them and eat them, he loves it.
I follow up with a chopped up silverside every now and then.

All of them can be bought at most pet stores in a freezer somewhere.

The anemone you are talking about I think is listed as one of the hardest to keep, so if you are not experienced you may consider starting with something easier like a bubble tip.
But I seem to always start with the hard stuff myself for some reason...

I have had it for about 3 years now and I used to feed it full size silversides but the lfs no longer will carry it so I tried the tiny ones they sell and it just gets everywhere in the tank. I have a 92 gallon corner with 250mh and 2 90w actinic. Flow is up from the refugium in the basement I am using a sequence dart which move a lot but is somewhat limited because of the lift about 8'. I also have three maxjet 1200 running in the tank and operated by a red sea wavemaster pro.

sounds good wheredid you pick it up

there are plenty of LFS that sell silversides in our area i get mine at petco here in wooster but there are some nice LFS over on the westside of Cleveland that should have the bigger ones lancefish is another great idea

you should also try feeding treats like salmon chunk or chunk of tuna steak the butcher at the grocery can take care of that for you.

Wow, you have kept a ritteri for 3 years now? Now I know who to ask questions to when I am ready to get one :D

As far as silversides, I haven't tried because the idea of putting the stuff in my tank kinda scares me, but someone mentioned they use the frozen cocktail shrimp or something from the grocery store.
I am sure they are more expensive but might work.

I feed mine raw shrimp. Silversides for some reason or another he did not like? I do peeled the outter layer off the shrimp. I then cut it up into three pieces.
Mine is now about 12 inches plus. I have only had him about 3 months nows and I think he has doubled in size. He is under a 150 watt 10k MH. I have six maxijets (2-400, 2-600 and 2- 1200) that are connected to two Redsea prowavemakers that are more or less aimed right at him.
