RMRC meeting(s) October 15th, 2pm "Building a Successful Reef for the Long Haul"
For the October RMRC event(s) we have decided to do dual meetings with presentations of "Building a Successful Reef for the Long Haul".
The purpose of these meetings is to discuss how to build and maintain a successful saltwater aquarium. Each presentation will touch on such things as how to select an aquarium, setup, maintenance, and long-term husbandry techniques. The forum will be casual and open to questions and discussions, as well as an opportunity to discuss individual accomplishments and mistakes in order to hopefully help the new reefer be successful from the start. The presentations will cover a lot of information in a short period of time and will only touch on each aspect briefly, so be prepared to ask questions.
Two meetings have been scheduled, one in the Ft Collins area and one in south Denver. At the northern meeting there will be a 600 gallon tank and system in the planning and construction phase that is in it self a sight to see. At the southern meeting will be a 300 gallon tank and system that has been up and running for about three years with corals that will make you drool. Both Kip and Cris (who have so graciously volunteered to share their knowledge and systems with us) are very knowledgeable with years of experience in the hobby, not to mention they are also great guys. They are usually more than happy to take questions and usually have an answer to just about anything.
So, if you are just thinking about setting up a system, in the planning stages, or are just new to the hobby, you don't want to miss this meeting(s). As always, if you are an old salty dog you are more than welcome to attend to brush up on the basics and lend your knowledge/experience to the discussions.
