RO/DI Advice

So I am debating on which one of these RO/DI kits to get:
http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/75-gpd-ro-di-4-stage-economy-system.html

or

http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store...ems/75-gpd-ro-di-5-stage-standard-system.html

or

http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store...systems/75-gpd-ro-di-5-stage-plus-system.html

I will not be mounting any of these since I currently do not have a good place to do it. I will probably hook it up every weekend to produce the water I need for the week and to change the water in the tank.

Thanks

If you starting with nothing and money an issue get the 4 Stage RO, you can add the DI and the other bells and whistles as you get money. A TDS meter is nice/needed to check the output. A pressure gauge is a nice addon, but IME pressure is pretty constant, and I do not use a pump or anything to increase the pressure.

Polo,

I have a 50GPD 4 stage I can give you. You would have to buy new filters and a new membrane. I can get you more specifics if you'd like, not sure of the make offhand. Not sure where your from abouts...

Marko,

Sorry, I meant Matt...

The 4 stage RO and the 4 Stage RO/DI are the same price

Tagging along! I'm in the market too...What exactly is the difference between the 4 stage RO/DI economy and the 5 stage standard? I see that the 5 stage has the Matrikx +1 .6 Micron Carbon Block and auto shut off, but how much of a difference does that extra filter make? Do they all come out to be 0ppm anyways? i

I did a 4 stage build your own from BRS with the DI, added on tds and pressure meter, auto shut off (with float) and came out to like $170. gives me 0 TDS, came ready to go out of the box.

From what I found, 5 stage isn't much more beneficial than 4 stage.

I just bought the 4 stage system with DI. I will add the other stuff later on once I get my stand built. I plan on mounting the 4 stage system in the fish stand since its by the window and right out the window is the hose.

polo, Are you by chance aware it freezes up here :p your hose will be worthless in a couple months :(
May not be a good option for your hookup... basement is great and you can run 1/4" hose hundred of feet with no drop... just a thought...

I am not worried about the hose freezing. Its literally right outside the window so if I have to I will pick up a small length just for the use and only hook it up when I need water. I am not planning a permanent connection

At some point adding a second di stage is worthwhile, imo. Placing a tds meter between the two di canisters allows you to know when the first one exhuasts while still insuring 0 tds output from the second. This also saves on resin since premature changes can be avoided.

I just received mine from ebay. It is a 4 stage portable system. Simple indoor install and no issues as of 24 hours. It was 70 bucks shipped in 2 days. Can't complain at all. Was nervous of going the fleabay route but this unit is great and affordable.
