Ok so Im looking to order new sediment filters and color changing DI resin. I have a Spectrapure 4 Stage filter. I am a bit confused on what exactly to order. There are so many resin choices and Im not quite sure which one to got with. Who has the best product for the price?

Carl,

you can get the color changing resin or standard mixed bed resin. I am ordering 5 lbs of it so I will have some extra if you dont need it till jan or so.

otherwise, just order a single refill of the mixed bed color changing nuclear grade resin from BRS. that is what I have used in the past.

The best deal is to buy the color changing resin in bulk as it comes out much cheaper that way. You get many refills in one 7.5lb bag of resin, I think 6-7 in each bag if i remember right. And with the color changing resin there is no guessing when it's spent.
It costs a little more up front but you save a lot in the long run, Plus you can split one with a friend if it's too much for you at one time, just make sure it stays sealed and moist or it's no good. Sediment filters are pretty much standard are OK and Carbon you can get the standard or go for better ones if you have really high TDS incoming water or other contaminates in your water supply.

via the Spectrapure website - Resin/sediment/carbon block filters:

Resin:

MaxCap® Resin Kit

Silica-Busterâ„¢ Resin Kit, Color-Indicating

Silica-Busterâ„¢ Resin Kit, Non-Indicating

Resin is not hard to figure. Im gonna roll with color changing.

Now sediment on the other hand there seems to be a bit more selection.

Sediment filters

Micron Rating:
0.1u
0.2u
0.5u
0.35u

How much of a difference is it going to make if I go with 0.1 Micron as opposed to a 0.5?

Carbon Block

Price ranges from $9.49-$41.99

This is what Im questioning - how do you know which one you need?

Just dont want to spend more than I need to. But really want to get what I need.

I use the RO/DI products from BRS and have been very impresses. I do not go with the color changing resin, but rather rely on my TDS meter. I also have 2 x DI filters. When I start seeing a rise in TDS I swap the 2nd with the 1st and replace the 2nd. I feel this way I milk as much out of the resin as possible.
