Ok here are the pictures of this unit. I actually didn't buy it. My pops bought it a long time ago. I'm not sure if he changes the filter ever before, but yeah. Take a look at it and you guys tell me what i should get. THanks

OK that unit does not have DI. By the time you test the membrane find out if it needs replacement, you buy new sediment and carbon pre filters, get a DI canister with cartridge you will be better off just buying a new unit designed for reef water.
For a full featured system look at:
$ 199.00 - OCEAN REEF + 1 FIVE STAGE 75 GPD RO/DI

that's not counting the effort of having to haul water from the supermarket, water store, etc.

suggestion:
Set up your unit for drinking water too, to maximize its utility

I'm tired of dragging water from walmart and kicking empty plastic bottle all over the floor. :D Just order my RO/DI from filterguys and ready to do auto top off, drinking water and spotless carwashes.

So there is no way of upgrading it instead of buying a whole new system? I want to save some money since i'm planning on getting a new tank soon. 180 gallon glass eurobraced and built-in overflow. Not starfire, i wish i could be it would be too much money.

a) Start by purchasing a TDS meter to test if the membrane is still in good condition and measure the rejection rate:
TDSin = Total dissolved solids at the membrane entrance
TDSout = Total dissolved solids at the membrane output before the activated carbon horizontal filters.
% rejection = (TDSin-TDSout)x100/TDSin
%rejection shall be 90% or higher if so the membrane is still goon and do not replacement.

1. If the membrane needs replacement, order Filmtec 75 gpd membrane
2. You also need:
1 sediment filter 10" standard cartridge 5 micron
1 5 micron carbon block filter
1 0.5 or 0.6 micron carbon block filter
1 10 inch standard housing for DI cartridge including DI cartridge with color indicating resin
some 1/4 " tubing

You will replace all the cartridges and the membrane if necesary. Discard the two horizontal activated carbon filters and replace them with the DI housing with the DI cartridge.

The connection diagram will be:
First stage=sediment
Second stage=5 micron carbon
Third stage=0.5-0.6 carbon
Fourth stage = Membrane
Fifth stage = DI housing/cartridge
