Ro/di in St. Louis

Crooked Reef

Hey all, sorry to bother you considering I'm not a member but I thought this would be the best place to post this. I just bought a 4 stage BRS value plus RO/DI and hooked it up tonight. It has been running for about 20 minutes and the inline tds meter is still registering only 12 ppm on the in and 0 on the out. I'm getting a lot more water than I was expecting as well. Running input at 50 psi exactly. I'm sure I have the waste and good water lines properly because the waste water is producing more and they are color coded by BRS. Is it possible in South St. Louis county that my source water is actually 12ppm or does this sound like a faulty unit? For reference if anyone know's where it is, I'm off of Telegraph Road about a mile from gateway aquatics.

I dont live in South County. I live across the river in Monroe County, IL. But my TDS coming in runs around 580-650 depending on how much rain we have had recently. And I burn through the resin and sediment filters. So for your wallet, hope you do have an incoming TDS that low.

BTW, where is your incoming TDS probe located? Before the sediment filter or before the RO unit?

Preinstalled by BRS. It's right before the DI chamber. That makes sense that it is the tds of the water after it passes through the ro. I didn't think to check placement. I was just expecting the tds input to be somewhere in the hundreds like yours. Thanks.

It doesnt matter if you're a member or not,we're always willing to try and help fellow reefers here.

12 TDS going in does sound a bit "clean" IMO . What gpd is the unit? I personally dont measure my TDS going into my unit, just the out going.

This is my first ro/DI system. I have bought it by the gallon in the past but I'm getting back into the hobby after a few months break and a new house so I'm trying to do everything right this time. I learned a ton and lost a ton in the first 16-17 years. In the hobby.

They tds meter is easy enough to move if you want. Just a bunch of John guest fittings.

It's not a big deal. I can do plumbing but I'll likely leave it alone. I don't like the idea of the sink set up so I cut into the main cold water line in a utility room and ran new copper to run the system.

Yeah. It just threw me because I was expecting much higher. I didn't think to check placement of the probe. It all clicked as soon as chucklez asked where it was placed.

I have the same unit, the inline meter measures what is going into the resin then out of the resin on my unit. Sounds like it is working correctly. My pressure is around 65-70 and after it settles in i get 4—5 out of the ro
