RO/DI output question-

I bought a huge RO/DI unit that came with the storage tank. (6 stage)

MY question is- what water is the type to use for the fish?

The kit came with a faucet water dispenser that goes to the sink. The water that goes through there gets pushed through a flavor and odor removal stage.

There is another water release that just has a simple valve that the water gets pushed through what I think is the DI part of it (you can see the chamber it goes through and its filled with little beeds tthat are green right now?

Which one do I use for the fish? Both waters taste fine.

Cliffnotes-

2 hoses (2 outputs)

One has a faucet type release valve that doesnt go through the DI part of it (at least it doesnt look like it.

The other release goes through the DI part (resin chamber)

Any ideas?

the flavor stage is most likely carbon, you want to run your water through all the stages including the beaded di resin. Just make your ro water in a garbage can or spare tank. you can also look into a float valve, I have one and it works well. As for the sink adaptor, I assume it also comes with a blue storage tank. You do not need to use either, I think the storage tanks only hold a few gallons and then shut off the ro/di.

yeah- it has a 3 gal pressure tank for storage.

So the water going through the resin is definately what you want to use for fish water? I dont think your supposed to drink the di water either are you?

There is some thinking that total mineral poor water in not healthy. It can upset the electrolytes in your body. I think this would be true if you consumed a lot but with normal use no. I have one on my kitchen sink but as another example the installer of the sub zero refrig recommended it not be hooked up to the ice maker since it will strip metal ions off the plumbing. This is the same reason you can not have a whole house ro. it will scavenge copper ions from the pipes. When I talked about not using the blue tank I did not realize you were going to use it for a sink.

im not using it for a sink per say- it came with a little water faucet thing that you can drill a hole and install it- Makes it handy for drinking water. But thats why I asked the question. Its a pain in the but hovering over the galon pitcher for 45 seconds while the thing fills up. :) Was hoping that I was supposed to use the NON-DI water for the tank so I could use the faucet attachment hard mounted to the sink.
