RO/DI pressure ?'s

I just hooked up my RO/DI unit and it has taken at least an hour for 5 gallons and is still filling as I type this. I'm not sure what my pressure is yet but I would think that by how slow it is just dribbling out it may not be enough. It is a 75 gpd air water ice unit and this being my first RO system maybe that is just how slow they are. A booster pump maybe in order but was just wondering how long it takes others to fill lets say a 5 gallon bucket.

I have a AWI 75g/d unit also. It usually makes 3g/hour, but if the water temp from the line in the basement feeding it is lower than the usual 62ish degrees it will run slower. I"ve never measured the water pressure, but that does seem to fluctuate a little from time to time.

From what I have read the booster pump also helps out if the water temp is too cold and since mine is in the garage that may also be an issue.

I have the same unit and that sounds about right. I'd get an auto shutoff valve to automate water production before buying a booster pump, personally.

I do not get paid for having a BS in Math, but I believe that if you are getting 5gal/hour for 24 hours, that is well over 75 gal/day.:rollface:

When I replaced the filters on my unit a month or two ago it seemed the flow almost doubled. I supposed, when I did it, that that meant it had been too long between filter changes.:fun4:

Another obervation, no charge -- if you are thinking that the flow is so low that "it is going to take forever for this to fill" and so you go off and do something else, you will come back and there will be water all over the floor and you will say "I will never do that again". BUT I have.:bounce3:

I was once that you should never expect the "gpd" to be what you get. Not sure about that because when I have new filters I come fairly close.

I can beat that TriMax, I was filling up a 5g bucket for a WC in my classroom, ran off to chapel thinking I had PLENTY of time, came back to a large puddle on the carpet to much amusement from my students

So it seems that the slow outout is about normal. I was curious as this is my first RO/DI unit. I think I may look into an auto shut off so I don't flood my garage since there is no drain in the floor!
