ro/di question

so I got my unit from filterdirect its a RD-102 6 stage 100gpd system Im looking on bulk reef supply for some replacement filters but not sure what one to get and if they will even work any help? figured I would try one of the kits as it replaces everything

Snazzy! is it brand new? as far as filters, if it is new, you shouldnt need any filters for 6 months and even then just eh carbon and sediment ones. generally 1-10 micron on teh sediments and 1 micron carbon blocks work good. I am of the belief that you truly only need 4 stages. sediment, carbon, RO, DI. but many use two carbons to do 5 stages. BRS sells a 5 or 6 stage kit that should work. From teh photos on their site it has a dual carbon and dual DI chambers on it.

Not brand new but getting ready to gear up to hopefully be adding water to my new tank soon so wanted everything to be good so the 6 stage kit should be good for it and not a bad price either :) might even try and get a booster pump so it will pump more

the membranes re designed to run at 60psi...

tath 6 stage delux kit would work just fine. you may also look into the membrane too...

how long are the membranes good for? i bought it brand new but I've had it for a lil bit and just want to make sure Im ready to fill a 125 with it :D

How long the membrane last depends on a-lot of factors, like your incoming water quality, how often you change your prefilters. If you back flush them or not, ect.

I will tell you on thing i learned the hard way. DO NOT let the membrane dry out, it will destroy it. I moved for a while and shut everything down. Thinking it would be better to drain everything so nothing froze, MISTAKE. I had to get a new membrane. Maybe this is common knowledge, but i sure had to learn the hard way.

Cool I guess just to be on the safe side I'll go ahead and change it since I would hate to get halfway through and it crap out :D

Hi John - I think the system you bought has a horizontal DI, right? If so, at a minimum unclip that and orient it vertically with bottom-up flow.

If you are unsure about the history of the system and are going to do a round of filter changes, that would be a great time to sanitize the system.

If you don't have a TDS meter or pressure gague, those would be the first things I would suggest you get.

If you can tell me a little more about the system, or post some pictures, I'll be happy to give you some more specific comments re which filters to use.

Russ

HI there your correct I got it brand new took them on the advice from someone here and put them vertical but I cant seem to remember the date i started using so I figure its getting close to time change I'll try and post pictures monday or as soon as I can thanks for your help
