RO/DI Question

I just hooked up the Kent Marine Maxxima Hi-S 60 GPD. Does GPD stand for gallons per decade? I've had it running for 2 hours, without the last filter in as per instructions. I'm getting 1 drop for me and 60 for the drain. Does a half a cup in 2 hours sound right? My water pressure is at 51 pounds, no kinks in the lines, no leaks, and no air hissing. Is this how fast it's gonna run till it's broken? Thanks for you're help. Mike

I thought that I had a problem too. I am running a Water General RD-102 RO+DI 6 stage and measured 1 gal filtered to 4 gal wasted. 4 gal filtered per hour. TDS in is 112, out is 0. I was told that if your TDS is high the more water will be rejected. Do you have a meter?

really, 1/2 cup in 2 hours? thats not right, in 2 hours i make about 4-5 gallons. can you adjust the amount of waste water being produced?

go to depot and buy a in line shut off value, turn that sucker 1/2 way. it will cost you < $5

an buy a tds meter, there cheap, like $20

nah, i put a shutoff valve on my waste line and turned it down a little, my pressure went up and i was making double the amount of "good" water. i think its suppose to be 5 to 1 adjust it so your making 1 cup of good for 5 cups of bad

It should have a auto shut off that works with pressure and a Flush valve that connects between the waste water line and your RO canister. The Flush valve in the off post will create pressure to the membrain, in the open. will flush the unit creating very little product. Buy a meter. 20$

1/4" ball valve, yes it will fit on your fridge water line as well
