Ro/di reservoir or straight to tank?

I would NEVER run anything straight to the tank that has the potential, through failure other than my own, to not only flood my house but in so doing, kill all the life in the tank as well which is exactly what will happen if (when) a float valve sticks allowing straight RO/DI to go into the tank unchecked. At least with some sort of reservoir you can limit the damage.

Guilty as charged, don't do that folks.
I have a separate 15 gallon glass aquarium that I keep filled with RO/DI with a Tunze osmolator on the reef setup, but a float in the sump on the 240 FOWLR directly to the RO/DI. >Don't do that.<

Thanks Johnike. You even look like the dude! I like the idea of 15 gallon tank instead of 5 which many folks seem to go with...pretty smart. Maybe there's a way to design a cool tank shape as a resevoir...

- how far is the tubing from your sump float to your RODI (just curious)
- yup, totally know about DI but thanks anyways. FYI, my water from street comes in at 33 tds. I know I still need an RODI but after hearing levels in excess of 300, I reckon I have pretty good water in my neck of the woods!

Running your RO/DI straight to your sump makes as much sense as listening to Vogon peotry. Listen to the wise folks here. I have a 40 gallon brute trash can for RO/DI storage and 29 gallon brute trash can for holding mixed salt water. My DT as 120 gallons.

Just want to throw in some sage advice I've seen here a thousand times.

Anything that can fail, will fail eventually

Say your RO/DI gets stuck and just keeps pumping water into your tank while you're away. The first given is that everything is likely going to die -- But Saltwater damage to your house is VERY serious. I think it's categorized as waste -- Some people have had to rip out and replace their floors in their house because of accidents like this.

No more than 6 feet.

Done deal wise men. I am not going straight to sump from RODI. I'm going to shop around for cool looking resevoir (again my DT is in my dining area so wanna make everything look good). Might set up corner of my kitchen to be RODI/Brute trash can station subject to wife scorn. Thanks a bunch guys

Yo reefers. Quick question. I'm buying a manual flush kit and shut off kit for my RODI unit. 100 GPD Aqua fx Barracuda. These kits look like standard generic items. Do I have to buy these kits that aquafx may show as accessories or are they fairly universal in how they are made? Thanks as always
