i don't like the bulkreef membranes. favorite would be spectrapure.. also pleased with air, water, ice and thefilterguys.. but same membrane as the bulkreef.

What problems have you had with bulk reef? I just ordered and installed a dow 75gpd membrane, and flow restricter and some prefilters and DI resin. Granted I've only been using them for a couple weeks.
I have heard specrapure has a good reputation as well.

inconsistent tds out of the membrane. the di exhausts quicker compared to what was used previously.. I don't recall what the previous membrane was though. :-/

That volume shouldn't be too much for a quality system to handle, although you'll need to change your prefilters and DI resin often. Inconsistent tds out of the membrane may reflect inconsistent pressure delivered to the membrane, or a system configured in such a way that tds creep plays too much of a roll.

Even if you use a very high end carbon block like the Chlorine Guzzler (with a 20,000 gallon capacity), and assume that you only run it to 75% of that capacity, you'd need to change it every 8 weeks or so.

You could configure your DI system to extend the time between refills, or just change the cartridges frequently.
