RO/DI unit for biocube 29

hey all
i have a 29 biocube i do 5 gallon water change every week with distilled water

well my tank has been up for over a year now..every week i got to the store and buy 7 gallons of distilled water 5gal for water change and 2gal for top off.
its getting pretty crazy every week doing that i think its time i get an ro/di unit


well i live in a third floor apartment and the washer is in the basement but i noticed my kitchen sink has a brass adaptor with a line coming off it going to no where. if i turn the knob water comes out so i know it works

would i be able to run an ro/di unit off that? would a 1/4in ish tubing be enough water pressure.

i would love to say ok i wanna make 5 gallons of water then turn it on and about 4hrs later or less have 5gal of clean ro/di. what size gpd am i looking at?

i live in west haven ct if anyone else has one around here they should know how dirty the water is here if it is

yes i have read about this but all the other post are really old something new had to come out

i think I'm gonna go with the TYPHOON III reef keeper 100 GPD

so far seems the best and great reviews also not a bad price seeing how in a year i spend $364 on distilled water and then also have 364 one gallon jugs to toss out

I'm still buying fresh and saltwater - it's just so much easier, if not cheaper. Having to deal with the waste water from the RODI system, mixing salt, etc. I have 4 jugs, 2 for salt and 2 for RODI, so I only have to go every two weeks... But I go weekly since it's a good excuse to go to the coral store.

Waste water can be a pain if you don't have a drain for it to flow in. I have a 14 gallon trash bin that my waste water goes into. I literily dump it out 5 times before my 7 gallon RO/DI tank is full. So, yeah it sucks but in the end it will be worth it. Im Saving fuel and travel time to the store. I think I'm around 84 gallons of RO/DI produced so far. Thats close to paying for the system itself! I do however get my salt water from my LFS.

I would be installing an rodi unit under my sink. Its already tapped for water. I would just hav to tap for the drain.

So far the reviews for the tyhoone III are all good. It just makes more wastes water. I guess that find. Water is included with rent

Anyone have anything bad to say about the tyhoone III ? Would love to hear.

Well i ordered it. My girlfriend is either gonna kill me or love me more for not having to help bring water up the stairs anymore

i dont think you will regret getting an RO/DI. Remember to set a timer once you figure out how much time it takes before the jug gets full. I tend to forget and sometimes i overfill when i let the RO/DI unit run too long.
