RO/DI Unit

I am a big fan of the products from www.buckeyehydro.com although any of the major online retailers will offer a similar item, the price point and more importantly, the customer service, is second to none.

The problem you will run into with a system similar to the ones you've linked is that they will require proprietary filter cartridges that in most cases are pretty pricey. The advantage to a standard size ro/di is that the replacement cartridges are readily available and inexpensive.

I see, thank you for the advice. The problem for me with the site you linked is that I'm in the UK and it doesn't look like they ship here. What does GDP mean in this context and what's the benefit of having a higher GDP?

I use bulk reef supply 5 stage plus bang for buck it is a great unit 75g day output pressure gauge i have had it for 5 years and it works very well

GPD is how much RODI water it will produce per day. The higher the # the faster it will make water.

Yes, although you might want to take a look at a 75gpd unit depending on your tank and the size of your water storage.

I STRONGLY suggest that you set it up with a float valve in the storage container so that the water shuts off when the barrel is full. Although the water will be the cleanest water imaginable, having it all over your floor because you forgot to shut it off doesn't do much for the wife's attitude about the mess. (the voice of experience here!)
