RO/DI unit?

I got mine pretty cheap to(kent maxima) But the maintenance was never done on it.Now I have to replace everything in it.If he had been doing regular maintenance on it like flushes and replacing sediment and carbon filters then it might of been a good deal. Now 140-150 later it will be like new.Only thing is I can get a new one(cheaper brand) for not much more.So if you know what it's condition is as far as the ro mimbrane goes(the expensive part) then that should be nice. The carbon and sediment filters range from 5-20 $ a piece based on micron #'s and the di cartriges start at around 20 for the ones that are none refillable. You will also need to get a tds meter and see if it has a flush kit.I just got done askin tones of ?'s on the same subject and if desert rat chimes in for you he can help alot more.

At first 75 sounds great. Its just if the filter needs new
replacement carts.sed.carb.di.or ro membrane than that
is going to be big $. If they are easy to find. You might be
stuck with that 75$ bargain. Pm the desert rat or look for
posts from this person diy or in the lighting.filters,ect.
forum. DR knows whats up when its h2o. Just look for
the Mad Mag. (what me worry) aviator.

How do I know that. I really appreciate all of the help. She said she had it for 6 months. It was hooked to an ATO so she only used about a gallon per day. Again, thanks for all the help.

If the membrane has been kept wet and been used up until recently then its probably OK. That unit did not sell for much more than $75 new and they are not the best quality units out there. You might want to reconsider and buy a new reef quality unit through one of the RC sponsors, they would cost you somewhere close to $150 brand new but have much better filters to begin with so no upgrading.
