RO/DI usage for small systems (small weekly output)

I go through only about 5-7 gallons of water a week between mixing saltwater and topoff. Will be setting up another tank soon so output will increase.

I have an RO/DI system, but haven't set it up yet and I'm tired of running to the LFS or Grocers for my water.

Any suggestions for running my unit. (produce the 7 gallons at once and let sit idle for a week? Produce 1 gal / day?)

All comments / ideas appreciated.

Thanks!

ONe of the few perks of my job! I work at a pharmaceutical company and have access to an infinite supply of RO/DI. The only issue when i do set my system up will be transporting the water to and from work.

Good thing too! I live in a very conservative county. With low taxes comes lousy tap water. There is honestly VERY little difference between my tap water and water from your local YMCA swimming pool.

They just toss chlorine at it and call it drinking water. It's attrocious!!! I wouldn't even trust a good RO/DI unit to purify this sludge.

Hey culligan man...

I would run it once a week as well. If you are concerned about the water that is left sitting in the unit having dissolved solids, just disgard the first gallon. This will allow the system to flush itelf. Make a couple extra gallons for drinking water for yourself while you are at it. Mine has a line running to my fridge for the icemaker and my sink for drinking water.

I have a 110 GPD unit and I make about 8 gallons a week...10 if you count the 'oops i forgot to run downstairs and turn off the unit and it spilled 2 gallons on the floor' that happens all the time.

Anyway, no issues. I even have a connector on the end of the input that screws on to my garden hose faucet. :)

Thanks filtersdirect! ;)
