Just wondering if any one had some extra RO/DI Water in Sierra Vsta they could part with. I am ready to fill my 155 gallon reef tank and would like to start off with clean water. Any amount will help out.

thanks

We'll looks like I'll be using water from one of those glacier machines. It test between 3-6 ppm TDS. I know 0 ppm is optimum but this is as good as I can get right now. Any thoughts on whether or not it will any much if any affect on my setup. All comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Those are pretty decent and serviced often. I have filled tanks with de chlorinated tap water when I first started which resulted in a huge algae outbreak but it got better after some water changes. You should be fine with 5-6 TDS

RO/DI systems are pretty inexpensive these days. Although I may get hammered for saying this, the basic construction and technology are pretty much identical across the board. What matters most are the cartridges and resin you use in them. A good RO/DI system can be had pretty cheap off of ebay and then purchase good cartridges and resin from a respected and reputable source. Due to evaporation and water changes you're going to be needing something very soon anyway. This would likely be a good time to take the plunge and get setup.

If you are testing just use tap. I seem to find a leaking bulkhead or flaw in the plumbing that requires drain and retest. I think my record is 7x but most days I get it down to 2 tests.

I have a small tank so I pay the .50$ or so per gallon at arizona nature aquarium or the vitamin store on glen and country club. The reason I bring that up is they have a hose so you can get a good size barrel or inflatable structure to fill and then transfer with a hose. Much easer than buckets.

I would recommend costco item 722099. It is "zero waste" in that the effluent is pumped into the hot water line, it has a storeage bottle (you T off for your ATO or fill station) and a sink faucet. You can upsell this as "clean drinking water" to the SO. If you are doing a big fill (115 gal) I would not connect the hot water side initially and just dump to the sink.

Hey thanks guys. Ive been doing the leak test and such the past week with tap water. This weekend is the big move. i have to break down a 55 gallon move it and set up the new 155. I plan on getting a RO/DI soon. Just have to convince the Wife.

Hey AZRippster. How many of us "Reefers" are here in SV? I only know of maybe 3 besides myself. You, someone i picked up a piece, of live rock and soft coral from and someone that works ont the Fort. Just curious.

Not sure how many of us are here in SV. It seems to ebb and flow, but there are definitely a few. From time to time Fishy Biz makes a run down here so let Mike and Justin know you're here. They'll sometimes call and ask if you need them to bring anything when they are coming to town.

I've got an RO/DI filter that I use to make my own. Its a small 50g/day unit but it works well enough for me. If you want to drop off some buckets (on post), I can fill a few a day for you. Its not ideal, I know, but it sure beats transporting 155 gallons of water from Tucson. Let me know.

AZ, I have an RO system that I could probably be convinced to part with for some frags. It needs all new filters probably, don't know the condition of the membrane either.

Did you mean this for Matt1974 or gaetyn? Gaetyn bought a portable system and I hooked Matt up last week with 5G. I've got a couple systems.

Ha Ha... sorry about that. That's what I get for only reading the cliffs notes version of the thread. The offer stands to anyone who wants. :)
