I don't know. I don't think the absence of minerals would be that bad because you are likely to get enough from other sources in your diet. I would be worried about the ultra pure DI water leaching something out of the holding tank or lines. Also I have noticed a lot of bottled water says that it has added minerals for taste, how does the DI water taste?

no not buy a long shot, probaly one of the worst ones. i LOVE the BRS 5 stage but you could go with the 6 stage even
you dont want to drink DI water due to that it is too pure, DI takes out almost all of the electrolites/minerals in the water and is actually bad to consume. RO is as far a you want to go for drinking/cooking water. I run BRS ro/di with a 3gal tank for RO Water.

If you want to produce both DI water for your tank, and RO water to drink, you may want to get a system plumbed right from the get-go to send RO water to a pressure tank which feeds a second small faucet on your sink.
There are a fair number of systems out there, especially from ebay vendors, that include DI and pressure tanks, but they are often misplumbed. Can't tell you how many of these systems we've retro-fitted/re-plumbed.
Setting the arguement re health effects of drinking DI water aside, most people don't care for the taste of DI water, while RO water tastes great. Many people who say they drink DI water really don't, in that what they're drinking is DI water that is then run through a carbon filter.

I did not say it was the best but that it is working out good for me, if you dont mind let me know what is wrong with this unit that would make it the worst.. so others dont make the same mistake I did :sad2: or is this like Ford versus Chevy

The supply side connector doesn't come with the unit, simply because everone needs something a little different. We have lots of options available for plumbing in that connection.

i know this is completely off topic.. but what kind of saleen do you have? i have a 2003 s281
The connection was minimal cost. His unit did come with DI bypass and a pressure gage, unlike some others. It does also come with all the tubing.
Russ also custom built mind since my inlet and outlet were on the left rather than the right. It was GREAT customer service! I could not get communication from another leading vendor just asking about hook-up options.

Kent - Some friendly suggestions re that system:
1. Unclip the horizontal DI stage and orient it vertically with bottom up flow.
2. Unfortunately, from looking at the picture we can tell that the system will, by design, deliver RO water from the pressure tank to the DI. This is a no-no, and will result in you burning through DI resin much faster than would otherwise be the case. Feel free to contact us by email if you are interested in fixing this configuration problem.
3. Unless you have chloramines in your tap water, there's no need (other than draining your wallet) for two carbon prefilters. When its time to replace them, you can buy a single good quality block and leave that other housing empty.
4. When you replace your prefilters, assuming you don't have lots of sediment in your tap water, go with a 1 micron sediment filter rather than the 5 micron that came with the system. Team that with a 0.5 micron carbon block. Your vendor doesn't indicate the spec's on the carbon blocks that came with your system.
5. Unless you need the production speed of the 100 gpd membrane, when its time to replace it, go with a 75 gpd membrane and team that with a 75 gpd restrictor. Much higher rejection rate and your DI will last longer.

I also have a 4 stage unit from BRS. I have been using it for 2 years and love it. I saves so much $$ by going through them, and yesterday I actually ordered another round of filters for it.
