Ro/DI

Last week I picked up a BRS Plus unit and finally got around to setting it up.

The TDS meter reads 0 going out which sounds great.....however when I switched it over to "in" it initially was at 50ppm and then went all the way down to 2 ppm. I let it run for about an hour and it stayed at 2.

does that sound right?

should the water level in the DI canister be at the top or should it be at about half?

As you can tell I do not have any experience with these.....

It will go down as the water passes through it on the "in" side depending on what water authority (or well) you have and the time of year will determine that setting. mine before DI is currently 7 but gets as high as 80. When you first turn it on and the first few seconds /minutes its clearing all the water thats been sitting in the line so its best to ignore the first reading.

Also when you first setup or change filters its a good idea to waste the first 5 gallons or so

For the DI if there is no back pressure on the outlet it will not fill up when its in use which is fine

You should consider flushing out your membrane before and after (about 30 sec pre & post) usuage to increase the longevity of the membrane and the di resin. You can buy a flush kit or just disconnet the waste line before the restrictor.
