ok question for ya's. I'm looking at getting this ro/di.

Now with this comes the pressure tank. Do I need to have this hooked up? My water line comming in from my well is already pressurised from my pressure tank. I shouldnt need to add in this one as well since my water line is aready pressurised right??? or am I wrong in thinking this?

No, you won't need it unless you'd like to install the sink tap, in which case it would probably come in handy because it would hold 4-5 gal of RO water at preasure. I have mine on a utility sink in my basement on a standard garden hose splitter ($2.49 at Lowes) along with a sink-to-garden hose brass fitting (about $2 at Lowes). Couldn't be happier, I just turn on the sink and either open or close the gate valves on the splitter to either send water into the sink or through the RO/DI filter. I keep about 30gal or RO on hand at any given time. This spring I hope to get a 100gal stock tank at Agway.

you dont need it but it also acts like a holding tank it always helps but isnt needed

the tank holds ro water not well water it is very nice to have hooked up if you can, if you don't plan on using it buy one without it that comes with the second di cartrige. Also I recomend you buy a second di cartrige, a float valve and extra resin all at the same time to save on shipping. The unit works much better with the second cartrige...

how exactly do you use an ro filter???? do you have to have the wast running all the time???

Yes, whenever your making RO, you generally get about 4 to 1. Four gallons of waste to one gallon of good RO water. Of course this ratio changes a bit from brand to brand and according to the rejections rates, but it is a good rule of thumb... so I've read.

ive seen ro flush kits online to buy all they are is a valve and hose so its cheaper to just make it yourself you know how its made?

No, you might try posting in the DIY forum... I'm sure it's been done. It seems like some of those guys have made everything themselves.

well I got it and its installed. Pretty easy to install. I should have got the float valve like Gary said and could plum it right to my 55g sump. Still going to do that but will have to moniter it and adjust it to the flow I need.

I also think I am in need of some replacement filters. I guess I need to get a TDS meter to see where my levels are.

Figured I'd let everyone know that this thing is worth every penny. Works great and certinaly made my tank look a hell of a lot cleaner. The water is so clear its almost like the fish are swimming in air.

Anyone have a TDS meter? I'd love to test my tap against my RO/DI unit.
