RO shut off valve questions.

Bent

I got nothin'
So I bought a auto shut off valve for my rodi....but when I was trying to install it, I noticed something that looked like one already installed.

Here's the pics of it:

Here's a pic of the one that's installed:

This would be great...if it actually worked. My float valve does not turn the unit off. So something is amiss..

Well...that's a head scratcher.

It looks like it's hooked up correctly. Wonder why it's not working?

Is it possible the valve is bad?

There is a way of checking it but i do not remember where i found that.. Also there is was a thread a week ago where someone was having a similar issue and it ended up to have something to do with his booster pump.
we have 85 psi water pressure so i do not use or know much about the booster pump so did not really read all of the thread. Someone from spectrum was helping him thou i know this for sure. Maybe he will chime in here for you..

Sorry i cant help more then the diagram .

Hmm. I'll have to look into it. I have the whole thing on a solenoid timer, and the RO container has a float valve and an emergency overflow outlet, so I may not even sweat it. The timer comes on for two hours twice a day (it's on the supply side), the float valve can still stop the incoming water I think, but if not then it will just drain out of the overflow into the sink should the solenoid screw up for some reason.

Thanks for all the help though. I appreciate it.

Because you already have a booster pump, and the circuit/wiring to drive it, a much better solution is a solenoid valve on the feedwater tube. We can help you with that if you like.

When hydraulic ASOV's like you have fail, it is typically one of the following reasons:
1. Float valve is leaking
2. Check valve is bad
3. ASOV itself is bad

I have a solenoid on the supply side that works fine. My unit is ancient so I bet the valve is bad. It works though it's just the waste water won't stop when the float valve shuts off the supply.

Hmm? You have 2 devices on your system designed to stop the flow of waste water - the 4-ported ASOV AND a solenoid, and the waste water still runs?

Give us a call when you are in front of the system if you'd like to get it resolved.

Thanks! I will do that.

The solenoid works. Once the solenoid shuts the supply off, the booster pump turns off and the waste stops. It's just the blasted shut off valve I'm having problems with.
