RO Water Static Electricity ?

Does anyone else get zapped while touching their RO water. I hooked up my RODI unit today and started to produce just RO water. I'm then pumping it from the RO water container through my DI cartridges due to high CO2. I went to put a power head in the RO container and keep getting what I guess is static electricity shocked. I'm assuming it is something to do with the Brute trash can but not sure. Any help would be appreciated. If I stick my finger just outside the water it sounds like it's boiling.

I never put the power head in yet. Was afraid the static build up may do something to that. Man it takes forever to make water. This first time I may be taking my trash cans to the LFS to get RO water. Use my filter for top off and water changes.

Well the can is about half full, I dropped the power head in plugged it in and didn't get shocked. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

What should I have it tested for? I have kits here for just about everything. They are a sponsor here so hopefully that makes them a good place. I buy most of my stuff there and they are super helpful.

Thanks.

RO/DI water shouldn't conduct electricity well at all. Pure water is an insulator without electrolytes in it and does not conduct electricity at all. It could be that your brute can or the plastic hoses from your RO/DI is shedding electrons similar to when you rub a balloon across your hair and get a static buildup. Just out of curiosity, does your faucet have a nylon or rubber fitting that insulates your filter system from your plumbing?
