i need to see about getting a ro or finding someone i can buy water from. i have been risking tap water mainly because i just havent gone to the lfs to get some. i have been putting more and more money in it and i want this tank to be remarkable down the road . so if anyone has up graded ro's lately and has the old one around let me know . i also need to see about a return pump around a mag 12 so i can add my other overflow and get rid of my crp hang on back skimmer and clean it up in the display. lol to much hanging on the back of this thing. Thanks jason

I would recommend you invest money on water quality as "the first thing" before putting in "more and more money", IF, you want your tank to look "remarkable down the road" :D

Spectrapure and The Filter Guys are both RODI companies you can not go wrong with.

yeah, definitely get your water source good to go, IMO, adding tap water will just lead to bigger problems down the road. As Nanook said, I also like the Spectrapure stuff, never tried the filter guys, but have heard good things about them.

You'll save a ton of money by buying a good RO/DI - I made a mistake by not buying one first thing... It's really convenient to have one at home.

get an RO/DI unit.

You waste money buying from the lfs, first it's like 50 cents a gallon or so and second, it's not even RO/DI water. Well, it is, but they're old filters and I guarantee you that you won't find a LFS with 0 TDS water.

Huh...I have to admit that I've never checked the TDS. I'll have to look into it. Regardless, it doesn't make sense for me to get my own unit...I only use like 5 gallons a month.

i bought a water general unit off ebay and would recomend it the membrane does not put out as good as a more pricey unit and it does not last as long but all in all a good buy . when the filters are used up you can get better stuff from the filter guys. i get mine at http://www.buckeyefieldsupply.com/ they are also a RC sponser.

you can get a RO DI unit on ebay for under 100.00 dollars.

These also come with a horizontal DI that you will be replacing every 3 months. Better get one with a vertical DI
