"Road" picture thread

yos_2660_0310-Edit.jpg

Since XTM posted from Tunnel View in Yosemite last time, I thought I would too. It's just looking the other direction.

:D

It was a workshop morning. Everyone else was heading back to the cars when I got the idea. I got two shots. One to make sure I had the tunnel exposed right and then one with the car. 30 seconds @f/8

I had the group in my car yelling at me to hurry up but after seeing that 2nd shot, guess what they were all shooting the next morning?

Thank you, but I kinda cheated. That bridge has blue light strip that is solid and runs the length of the bridge.

I actually took that years ago, 2004 to be specific. Are we supposed to be posting pictures we took today?

I don't have anything special either. Figured it would mainly be leaves and light trails so while I was out fussing with nighttime focus I thought of you folks:

There's a road in there, it counts :)

Still fighting with focus. I'll be starting a thread sometime soon per Jordan's suggestion. I have questions.

Can I play?

railroad (if that counts as a road)

New D750 (old D50 kit lens, no hood)
No RAW profile for DXO yet and not willing to purchase photo Ninja -- So I used the ACR in CS6. First time with ACR so I have no idea what I am doing with it.

Please be critical - both in technique and processing

Nice Bill!!! I've been hoping you'd show after you told me you got it. The only thing I'd say is could the shadows on the right and lower left be lightened a bit in CS6? Otherwise looks good. The camera seemed to handle shooting well in harsh lighting. Hang around. And yea, railroads should fit. I almost went down to Barking to shoot along the tracks and lock yesterday. Ended up at Loyalhanna Watershed.

Thanks for the comments!

Yes, I was pretty amazed at the dynamic range given the angle of the sun and my shooting direction. I have yet to look at her D7100 shots of the same scenes (better glass on hers but different sensor).

I have ZERO experience using CS6 for photo developing and likely need a class, as there are too many dials to fiddle with.

I played with DxO and PN with older D50 images. I really like DxO and am eagerly awaiting the D750 profile.

I have only been out with the camera twice now. Just getting the hang of the controls. We visited Fall Run Park (Gibsonia) yesterday. I took a pile of images, most crap I think. It just goes to show that higher end gear, does not a photographer make :)

Nice! I've never seen this tunnel photographed like this. Are you facing towards the valley or is the valley behind you?

I ran out to the road in front of my house this evening to get an entry in the contest
