The bubbles have taken over the tank!
Water is cloudy, should I get a heater?

looking good so far. Ya the edge does seem to accumulate a lot of bubbles on the top glass, but that should stop once you get your powerhead.

Water has finally cleared up just need to get one of those brushes to clean the inside. I'm looking at getting the MP10 hopefully sometime soon or just settle for a cheaper powerhead and better lights. The worst thing is that while I am making changes and sticking my hand in water goes everywhere :headwally:. Other than that I am excited. I am thinking about getting a damsel just to have something fun in there.

IMHO...never settle in this hobby...lol. If you have your heart set on something, I would get it. Cause down the road...you're gonna want it...lol

Also...I hate to be that guy and offer up what I would do in that tank because my buddy didnt have a great experience with damsels. Maybe some of the little gobies that way you can add a few of different colors. There are lots of little fish that would be pretty cool in that tank and some sexy shrimp....but again just trying to offer ideas.

Also you should think about the little coral grabbers to work inside the tank...be easier than sticking your hand in it.

But i will be following along...looks like a great build!

Stock wise I'm really but not really set on a small ocellaris/percula clown and some inverts. Might also add 1 goby down the road. What are some gobys that I should look at? If something catches my eye it wouldn't be a big deal not getting a clown.

Chill out haha it's not your salt. This is going to take sometime to come down. What you're experiencing is perfectly normal. I honestly wouldn't bother changing out the water untill the ammonia and nitrite reach 0. Your tank has to learn to deal with the ammonia, let it do its thing. It'll take a good week to do.

I guess that could be it. My tank hasn't been up for a week yet. Might put a percula clown this week once I get more LR.

You're not going to have much success if you get a fish now. Your tank has to learn to deal with the ammonia. Think about it, if your ammonia levels are high now just because you have live rock die off, imagine what will happen with a fish in there. Give it sometime

I honestly only see a real problem with nitrate. I guess I'll wait before I do anything further. I'll just get some more live rock so I have 6-7 LB.

pH = 8.0
Ammonia = 0.25 ppm
Nitrite = 0 ppm
Nitrate = 160 ppm
Salinity = 1.026

Still waiting. 2 weeks running on Wednesday.

i usually takes a good month to balance out. just be patient and you will be rewarded. :)

Turns out it was the salt. :headwally:
I tested the premixed water I received from a LFS and nitrates were through the roof. I made some of my own water and nitrates were A LOT lower. I have an ocellaris in the tank and its doing perfectly fine. I have since put in 4.5 of LR (7 LB in total). Tank is running great. Ammonia is almost 0, nitrites are at 0.

It's time for some lighting. I need a lot of help here.
Do I got with 50/50 bulbs, MR16s, fork out some money and get a ready kit (EdgeBrite, AiNano, etc.)
I am not planning on corals soon but I want to be ready.
Also for flow, 1 or 2 Koralia Nano 240s?

Put in a turbo snail and an emerald crab for right now. Going to be picking up a couple more cleans sometime soon. Any suggestions?

Any ideas for lights?
